First WEDNESDAYS Highlights (03-02-16)

8 March 2016

ASMAC First Wednesdays continued with The Art of Music Preparation Act II held at Local 47 on March 2nd.

Jim-Ciancaglini-demonstrationA very enthusiastic audience enjoyed masterful presentations by panelists Liz Finch, Ross deRoche, and Kim Richmond. Also featured was another great presentation by Jim Ciancaglini of Valle Music.

The evening began with an interesting hands-on demonstration by Jim Ciancaglini, which included the proper way to bind music and the importance of selecting the best paper size, color and weight for optimal performance by musicians. Next was an exciting exchange of music preparation topics with the expert panel, including plenty of audience interaction. Questions, answers, information, fun stories and deadline nightmares were all part of this magical evening.

There was never a dull moment for the audience which included music students and industry professionals. Liz, Ross, Kim and Jim deserve a big ASMAC round of applause for sharing so much great information. The audience left with a study handout that included a music supervision overview, orchestra recording budget, music prep rules, chord symbol rules, a well constructed violin part and further study suggestions.

On April 6 2016 at 7 p.m. ASMAC and Local 47 will present the next event in the FIRST WEDNESDAYS series. Elliot Deutsch and the legendary Patrick Williams will each present a song they arranged and discuss the arrangement process including score analysis. Bring your questions and wisdom to share.
