“What’s the purpose of this demo reel?” asked Pete Myers at ASMAC’s Master Class on Saturday, June 22nd. For the veteran TV composer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor, that’s where it all starts. And having worked with Cannonball Adderley, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, and written for classic shows such as “Dynasty”, “Jake and the Fatman” and “Diagnosis: Murder”, to name just a few, Pete knows what he’s talking about.
Not being the type to rest on his laurels, he and Citrus College recording engineer Tim Jacquette illuminated the often baffling art of “Arranging, Orchestrating & Recording A Dynamic Sizzle Reel for Successful Promotions”, and based on its purpose developed a tangible concept and plan of attack. And to maximize the odds of success, it’s critical to “Know what people are listening to.”
For all this and much more advice, check back for the video for this Master Class, available soon, exclusively from ASMAC.
